With direct flights from Stansted to Klagenfurt there has never been a better time to enjoy the delights of a Carinthian summer. Austria's southernmost province, bordering Italy and Slovenia offers relaxed swimming in warm lakes and picturesque mountain scenery. The popular resort of Pörtschach on the sunny northern shores of Lake Wörthersee is conveniently located just 20 minutes' drive from Klagenfurt and is ideally situated for exploring the region, either with or without a car. With its own mainline train station and pleasure boat connections to other towns and villages on the lake, it is well served by public transport. Its shaded woodland shoreline contrasts with the sunny lakeside promenade with its well-tended flower beds and beautiful climbing roses. The 17 kilometre long lake reaches temperatures of up to 26°C and offers a range of water sports from swimming and surfing to waterskiing and sailing.
